Weekends are notoriously hard on your diet. And by diet, I mean your healthy nutrition plan.
You can be rigorous with your meal planning and exercise all week but
still not see results because your weekends just blow out!
Love
eating breakfast out on the weekend? Try and choose some solid protein
choices rather than the calorie dense banana breads, croissants and
even toasted granolas. Muesli's are a sneaky little bunch - they're
usually LOADED with fats (and not healthy fats either!) and major
calories.
Think
poached eggs or lean scrambled eggs. Call me dumb but I only realised
recently that most cafes make scrambled eggs with cream! What a rip
off. Here I was thinking I was making a good choice - but NO!
Watch
the size of your coffee! All these supersized options are a waistline
KILLER. If you don't down a massive glass of water in one sitting, then
why are you downing a massive latte in one sitting? Huge calories
right there. Start thinking about the milk in your coffee as a meal,
not a drink.
Alcohol.
Surely, that should be enough said. Relaxing, sociable, sharing....
Empty calories devoid of all nutrition that go straight to your fat
storage areas. Sad, but true!
Like
breakfasts, any social occasion that involves eating out can pose huge
challenges too. Your fallback position should always involve a lean
protein choice alongside a selection of veggies or salads. Enjoy it if
it's your cheat meal, but otherwise you can minimise damage to your
weight loss efforts by making those simple choices.
Stick
to routine as much as you can over the weekend! Try and get in a quick
workout to keep your head focused. If you're having a very social
weekend, any meals that fall outside that social inter-action should be
lean and small. Restrict your starchy carbs and all processed foods and
save those calories for when you're socialising.
Weekends
can be tough stuff from a nutrition point of view. You just want to
relax and let go a little but unfortunately that little "relaxation" can
just shoot your weekday efforts down in flames.
